Lighting Points And Power Points

Standard power points, lights, fans, and other electrical fittings are more likely to malfunction under extreme climatic conditions, such as constant dust in dry and hot climates or high humidity in the tropics. Household bugs can damage electrical fittings by nesting in them (see A1.3 ‘Cabling and Wiring’). Electrical fittings may also have a shorter lifespan in a large or active household due to their frequent use.

Exposure to water or chlorine-based cleaning solutions when cleaning the house might harm electrical fittings.
Another cause of electrical fitting failure is a poor-quality power supply, which causes excessive power variations. Specify fittings that are appropriate for the power-producing system. For example, incandescent globes are highly susceptible to surges in the power supply; however, other types of lamps, such as fluorescent tubes, are more able to survive these conditions.
